The page will be updated regularly so be sure to stay tuned!
Mr MacKenzie, Mrs Ryan, Miss Jones & Miss Lee (Year 3 staff).
In our English lessons, we are really enjoying learning all about myths! We have read lots of examples of these in class and discussed our favourite ones! We loved retelling ‘Theseus and the Minotaur’ on Friday!
(Remember to look at our wonderful writing on www.pobble.com – we think you’ll be impressed!)
We love Maths in Year 3 and are always trying to challenge ourselves! As it is National Number Day on Friday 3rd February, throughout this week, we have had an investigation to carry out when we arrive into class each morning.
Here we are trying to work out how Mr MacKenzie scored 19 points in his darts game!
Our current RE topic is all about journeys. To end the topic, we went on a pilgrimage to Ladyewell Shrine in Fernyhalgh. We wrote prayers to Our Lady and took part in Collective Worship in the chapel there.
We loved learning to play the Djembe drums during the Autumn Term – we performed in front of the whole school and brought the house down! We certainly have some budding musicians in Year 3!
We have a reading challenge each night in Year 3. Every morning, Mr MacKenzie asks, “How many children read at home last night?” and we put our hands up if we have done. If we manage to ALL read at home…WE WILL WIN A DVD AFTERNOON!!!
At the moment, our record is 25, we’re sure we can do it soon though!!! We love to read lots of different books in class. Here are some pictures of us enjoying reading activities.
Remember, we are swimming every Wednesday afternoon. Please make sure your child brings in their swimming costume, towel and caps for girls!
This term, our PE day is Monday.
A reminder that we are now taking payments for our Barnstondale Residential trip! Payment cards will be given out on Monday 13th February. Can you please send all monies for Barnstondale to Year 3 classroom.
