This year we celebrated World Book Day on Thursday 1st March and Mr Stinchcomb, our English Co-ordinator had a great day planned for all the children.

The children came into school dressed as a character from their favourite book or in their pyjamas. They all looked fantastic and had clearly put in a lot of effort to create their costumes. A huge well done to them all! Thank you to all the parents who also helped create them. Prizes were given for originality – Congratulations to all the winners!

We had a wonderful Assembly led by Mr Stinchcomb which was very entertaining! He clearly conveyed the message of how important reading is in our lives and the pleasure and knowledge we can gain from books.

During the day, all classes took part in a variety of reading and writing activities such as  writing as authors, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), designing a book cover for their favourite book and writing the blurb and reading for pleasure.

All the children were given a £1 token to redeem when buying a book.  Both the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day!

Thank you to everyone for making this such a pleasurable day!
