Last year we celebrated World Book Day on Friday 3rd March and Mr Stinchcomb, our newly appointed English Co-ordinator already is making plans for the next one on Thursday 1st March 2018!

The children came into school dressed as a character from their favourite book.  They all looked fantastic and had clearly put in a lot of effort to create their costumes. A huge well done to them all! Thank you to all the parents who also helped create them. Prizes were given for originality – Congratulations to all the winners!

We had a wonderful Assembly led by Mrs Walker, our previous English Co-ordinator which was very entertaining! She clearly conveyed the message of how important reading is in our lives and the pleasure and knowledge we can gain from books.IMG_8174IMG_8170

During the day, all classes took part in a variety of reading and writing activities such as  writing as authors, DEAR (Drop Everything And Read), designing a book cover for their favourite book and writing the blurb and reading for pleasure.

All the children were given a £1 token to redeem when buying a book.  Both the children and staff thoroughly enjoyed the day!IMG_8190IMG_8189

Also …….  A huge thank you to our School Cook, at the time, Mrs Wilkes and to all the kitchen staff for their fantastic work in producing a special “World Book Day” menu at dinner time.   It really was quite impressive and the children were very excited to tuck into the food, especially the desserts – “James and the Giant Peach”, and “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory!”

Thank you to everyone for making this such a pleasurable day!
