Our curriculum meets the statutory requirements of the 2014 National Curriculum and is complemented by engaging experiences and opportunities that excite and stimulate our children. Our aim is to develop children who are resilient life long learners, with a passion for developing themselves, their knowledge and skills in order to be both ready for secondary school but also as importantly, the world beyond.
Teachers post ‘Learning Journeys’ for each half term on their year group pages which provide further detailed explanations of the learning our children engage with.
In English, we use the ‘Read Write Inc’ programme for EYFS and Key Stage 1 children, which also includes learning of phonics. In Key Stage 2 we use ‘a quality text’ based approach to engage our children in high quality reading and writing.
In Mathematics we use a variety of resources, including the Liverpool Calculation Policy. We use the White Rose scheme to supplement learning, as well as an online practice and learning programme for class and homework.
In RE we follow the ‘Come and See’ Archdiocesan scheme of work.
Our foundation subjects work towards a topic based approach, linking subjects where possible to improve learning. We strive to write creatively and to high standards across the curriculum and we use themed ‘Creative Writing Weeks’ to showcase this writing.
Further information on our curriculum can be found via class teachers who will provide you with an overview (Learning Journey) for each half term or via our Curriculum lead, Mrs Moorcroft.
Our 2019-2020 Curriculum map is currently being developed.
